GREASE TRAPS

Grease traps reduce Fats, Oils, and Greases (“FOGs”) from flow-streams exiting kitchens and other sources to protect the downstream sewer network and onsite treatment systems.

Regular servicing of grease traps is important to ensure that the system is effective in reducing FOGs, solids content, odours, and risks of overflows.  In fact, regular servicing is a requirement to meet Auckland Council consent obligations, food safety standards, Watercare bylaws, and where applicable individual Tradewaste Agreements.

Grease traps work by reducing the temperature of flow-streams in tanks where separation occurs and FOGs collect on the surface; active systems actually remove waste from flows.

Servicing costs vary significantly and depend on the size, type, and accessibility.  Call us with the details of your system and we will be able to provide pricing for servicing and how to best look after it.

GREASE TRAP SERVICES

Cleaning

We clean out grease traps of all sizes and types!

Vacuum tankers are used to suck out the contents (we carry 60m of hose), however we have portable vacuum equipment where cleaning out in hard to reach places is required.

In the event that a system overflows, cleaning up by vacuum where the mess is completely removed is usually the approach requested by clients.

Servicing

Servicing includes cleaning out the system but also checking and inspecting dosing pumps, filters, pump-out equipment, heater elements, and other items.

We service all types of grease reduction systems including simple traps, ‘converters’, active systems, and those systems with advanced capability including with pump-out, mixing, level sensing, alarm, and other features.

Inspection & problem solving

We are able to inspect your system at any time which is primarily simply to confirm how long the system can be left prior to cleaning or servicing.

When problems occur with grease traps, they are usually nasty, messy, and difficult to resolve!

We have a long history of unblocking outlets (the most common cause of problems), clearing downstream sewers, resolving technical issues, and malfunctions with advanced features.

“Kasun was amazing - we had such a mess, grease was all over the floor and we needed to open that afternoon for the early service. He responded within the hour, cleaned it up, cleared the blockage, and then showed our kitchen hands there and then how to better look after it.”
